For most of my career, I thought my edge was strategy. Then, after a session one day, a CEO pulled me aside. Her team kept asking for me, she said — not because of the frameworks, but because in the room with me, they felt seen and heard.
That was the moment it clicked. The thing I'd done instinctively my whole life — really listening — was the rarest leadership skill in the building.
We learn early that talking is how you lead. We're rewarded for it in school, in sports, in every meeting. Almost no one gets that same validation for listening. And I'd watched it play out the same way everywhere I'd been — in corporate boardrooms, on the sidelines, and at my own dinner table.
So I built Lead with Listening to give that skill what it has always deserved: a name, a method, and the recognition it's been missing.
